Joe,
Damned good article man. Damned good. I sent it to my sister in Texas, another over bright, well read, uneducated leftneck. Verily, the people you write about might as well be Republican Martians, as far as the liberal left is concerned.
I'm guilty of it myself at times. Vancouver is a very long way from Hueytown. The physical distance is much shorter than the intellectual and cultural distance. But working class has become an impolite term even in Canada, now we are all 'consumers'. Clever eh? Consumers all have the same interests. Describing people in terms of their relationship to the corporations. Very democratic, yes?
Anyway, I think my last article is maybe the best I've written lately. Learning to write has a big learning curve attached to it. The story is called The American Condition. My own State of the Union address. If the email app screws up the link, just hit the link in the sig. The article will be the first up until Monday

So, thanks again for a damned good read. I think one of the reasons educated liberals think of the white working class as trash is because they really believe that their white skins gave them all the advantages that white middle class people have.
The next time I have sushi, I will wash it down with the cheapest beer in the place, in memory of my roots. :)
Your fellow leftneck, who, like yourself, wants to tear the whole thing down. See you in Gitmo.
