My jaw dropped. Thanks for your brutally honest and keen-eyed statement in your essay "Revenge of the Mutt People". I'm a New York Jew with post-doctoral degrees in psychoanalysis, and I take my hat off to you. I'm not sure where we go from here but you've outlined a social catastrophe of immense proportions and I hope I can be part of the solution rather than the problem.

Personally, I believe in free and universal education for all citizens. We sould write it into our constitution like the Germans did. At the same time I don't believe our system of higher education can meet the challenge. Nor do many people here care. Even those who would benefit most from it do not even know there is more to know. How do you sell education to ignorant people convinced they already know all there is to know about the world? It is a uniquely American kind of ignorance. And it's dangerous.
