Joe-
All I can say is, "wow." Well, I can say a bit more than that, but that was my first reaction to "Revenge of the Mutt People." First, swede jumpin' Jeebus, man, you can fuckin' write.
I'm black. I've believed for some time that all white guys benefitted from "white privilege," but never quite grasped that for a whole lot of them -- a WHOLE LOT -- it don't help very much.
Way back when I was in high school in Tennessee, many of my best friends were "rednecks." I knew them as generally good guys who weren't going anywhere. I was lucky. I won a scholarship to college, but these fellows likely weren't going much of anywhere.
Thanks for opening my eyes. I've always believed that "just because a man is a redneck don't mean he's an asshole." Like you point out, he's probably just an ordinary Joe doin' his damnedest to make it through a difficult, uncertain world.
I love your shit, dude, and I'll be back to your blog regularly. Thanks for being here.

Ho Normus!
Thanks so much for reading my stuff.
Yeah, one good thing I have noticed, as the years go by rednecks are getting less and less racist. Part of it is because, oddly, of the military socialization process. As much as I hate the military, it lets rural and suburban whites learn about and be in proximity with blacks for extended periods of time. Another thing is that certain "alpha rednecks" are starting to figure out that they are being used by the man.
Anyway, you had these guys psyched out years ago.
Good work,
Warmest regards,
Joe
