Love your essays. I'm a working class stiff getting my college degree late in life. I was just wondering why you would post an email like the one that was written by the individual that identified himself as R. Sassy. Is Ann Coulter using a pseudonym again? These haters never seem to tire of spewing their bile, do they?
I'm glad that there is someone like you on the web, voicing the concerns of all of working stiffs out here. The only thing that will change the viewpoint of people like sassy, is for the US to have another economic collapse, like the Great Depression. Events like that tend to open ones eyes.

Hi Brad!
Due to the nature of the Internet (people only read things that reenforce their own prejudices) I don't get much hate mail. Hell, I live in a place where people say that sort of thing to my face. But I decided to put just one hate screed on the site so the more delicate, college educated urban liberals can see what they are up against out here in the unwashed heartland. You and I live in the South and know there are plenty of folks like Sassy in this country, so you know what I mean.
Anyway, we need to know our opponents. Notice I did not say enemy, because Sassy is an American just like us, but who obviously did not have the advantage of a decent education and who has been propagandized from birth. He also has been taught to by the political and capitalist elites who screw him to direct his anger at us, not them.
I live in a town where half the population feels like Sassy, even if they don't openly express it the way he does (although plenty do. Just go into any working class beer joint with a black woman on your arm or wearing a gay pride pin. Or worse yet, a John Kerry button) Now the law of averages says they all cannot have been born inherently hateful people. So to my mind we have to eliminate those things in our society that incite and profit from Sassy's hatefulness. And that thing is called the Republican Party. Much as I am disgusted by the Democrats, I cannot remember a time when they propagated hate.

Sassy, if you are reading this, give me a call, brother. We can discuss like men those ways in which I seem to offend you so much. And if that doesn't work, we can duke it out in my back yard. Not all liberals are really pussies. And vesides, my neighbors are bored as hell and would enjoy a good eye gouging knock-down, drag-out brawl. I ask only one thing: You buy the beer involved in my rigorous prefight training program. ;-)
