Dear Jim,
I have always believed, at least since the sixties, that the subject of race is exploited to hide the real issue of class in a supposedly classless society. Nowadays, the tactic is to keep all sectors, white, black, latino and even upper middle class liberals inside their gated communities, culturally ghettoized so they cannot see their human commonalities.
