Hi Joe,
Regarding the letter Lies about 'failed terror attacks' in UK, when the evidence clearly proves this doctor that Jennifer is so fond of, is guilty (and I believe in the end it will), how will her letter read then? I have seen the interview with his roomate stating how he became more and more radical. This has bothered me a lot due to the fact the suspects all seem to be medical professionals. I have read everything I can on it and although they may be guilty of nothing, my guess is they are. I would be very careful to defend someone just because they used to be nice.

Dear Steve,
I do not at all disregard the possibility of their guilt. People change a lot over a lifetime and they may well not be the people she knew earlier in their lives.
But I have been in the media business for almost forty years. And I have watched it take on a life of its own. And I have watched it increasingly become a tool of the state, especially when it comes to news. And I can tell you that virtually nothing, and I do mean nothing, is as it appears on the news. I have helped do it, and I know the truth. And the truth is that the people in the media have internalized the process so thoroughly they do not even know they are mere mindless cogs in a larger and ominous corporate/state machine.
The process so well described by the letter writer is very, very subtle. It makes us form subconscious opinions immediately. For example, I have come to understand that, despite what we were told, Timothy McVeigh was a misguided patriot, and was a more literate and intelligent person than most Americans, one who more resembled Tom Paine than a terrorist. Chew on that one for a while...or read Gore Vidal's "Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace." Nothing is as presented by the American media. And when I go to Latin America or other countries and see the news as it is, without spin, I am shocked by the snow globe of electrons that constitutes the America consciousness. Hence the hologram.
So, I remain skeptical and adhere to a very silly old American cliche: A person is innocent until proven guilty.
Here is the bottom line. She is talking about a person she knows IN THE FLESH. You are basing your understanding upon an electronic signal beamed into your mind by a multinational corporation licensed by the government. Which one of you is closest to "reality?"
In art and labor,
Joe
